A bit about us..

To our new visitors, welcome and to our many repeat customers welcome back. We have some exciting changes coming to the site in 2015 with a complete refresh and many new products hitting the pages, so lots to look forward to. We will of course, keep you updated via our newsletters and Facebook page when these are rolling out.

The team at Portus is small but “perfectly formed” you might say, if you have called us you will have spoken to one of our sales team, probably John or Dave.  As for the boss, well she keeps the whole kit and caboodle ticking over, enables us to offer the great prices we can, ensures our customers are happy and if the wheels do come off the bus (we are human), helps us get back on track, plus she makes a mean cup of tea! 

We also have the most important person in the office, Cookie, (there is a picture of him at the bottom on his summer holiday), who regularly sits in the office and probably runs the show. So, all in all, a call centre we are not, but judging from our feedback, here are some comments from our customers, we are happy that way;

Although our head office is overseas, the staff have spent all or most of their lives in Britain. That matters because we know that Brits have a very different view of internet purchasing to those of website sellers from America or Hong Kong.

That’s why we have a UK sales office staffed by local people, and we have old fashioned retail values. If you are not satisfied with your product we will refund you without quibbling…you might be surprised how difficult it is to return a product to America or Hong Kong and get a prompt refund!

We also take after sales service seriously. If you have a problem, your product will be repaired in the UK by the manufacturers approved service agent. Also, don’t forget, the 3 year guarantee on DSLR camera bodies can be very useful if you need it down the line.

The boys in the office may not be pretty (don’t hold that against them) and they don’t try & be different but they will do everything they can to make sure your “buying or asking or researching or recommending” experience is as informative, honest, straightforward and helpful as it possibly can be.

Being different is all very well, but actually we think just delivering the best possible prices with the best possible service makes us pretty special and we hope you agree.
